About Theben

Theben GmbH is a family company founded in the Black Forest of Germany in 1921. It began by inventing the staircase timer and then into development of electrical time switches and heating control.
 
Since then, they have become one of the world’s leading providers of intelligent solutions for home and building automation ensuring the responsible use of natural resources. They employ over 1,000 people directly and hundreds more through their global supply chains, achieving an export rate of 64%.
 
Among their products are bestsellers like the staircase time switch ELPA and the Theben-timer, of which they have distributed 30 million units each over the decades. Product innovation includes the invention of the Presence Detector in 1992 and numerous din rail-mounted control devices, which made Theben a market leader in lighting controls.
 
With a few exceptions, Theben’s entire product range is produced in Germany, at their headquarters in Haigerloch. During the manufacturing process, a 100% final inspection ensures that each product leaves the company in flawless condition.
 
Theben’s new SensNORM detector laboratory at the company's headquarters in Haigerloch offers extensive measuring equipment to quickly and independently test their own product developments, particularly their wide range of passive infrared detectors (PIR).

A Driving Force for KNX

Since 1992, Theben has been a driving force in the area of KNX – the open standard for building automation. As a founding member of the KNX association, they actively influence the development of KNX technology. Since 2015, Theben has also been a member of the KNX Technology Committee. In 2019, Theben was the first manufacturer to introduce KNX wireless actuators according to the Data Secure standard.
 
In 2019, they released the LUXORliving KNX based Smart Home Solution as an entry-level option for building automation. LUXORliving offers control of lighting, heating, shading, and security without the need for ETS software. Watch this video to learn more about LUXORLiving.
