What Makes Ivory Egg KNX Training Different?

Ivory Egg UK’s Training History 

Back in March 2008 we welcomed our first trainees onto the KNX Basic Certification course as a certified KNX Training centre and continued to do so for a further 10 years. As well as offering the KNX basic course, we also provided additional manufacturer-specific training with the support of Gira and Theben, as well as specialist training on subjects including HVAC.  

Over the years there has been an evolution from manufacturers offering KNX Training, to today where training is now primarily offered by distributors, as well as CEDIA, one of our industry’s trade associations.  

To this day, we still pride ourselves on working with manufacturers to provide opportunities for our customers to learn about products with visits to manufacturing facilities and experience centres, as well as providing our own Tech Briefing webinars. 

Why we’ve created our own online KNX Training platform 

Our decision to stop offering the KNX Basic Certification course is grounded in the reason why we decided to develop our own online KNX Training platform.  

As a trusted and experienced KNX distributor, we have spent countless hours providing ad hoc one-to-one support and advice to integrators who have lacked confidence or struggled to know what products will be best suited for the project requirements. 

Learning the principles of topology, the programming and commissioning using the ETS software is only part of the journey and is only useful once you have a project to work on. To really be successful with KNX you need more than the practical skills learned during the KNX Basic course. 

Time and experience have shown us that there is such a demand for KNX support that a more scalable solution had to be found, and so our online KNX Training platform was born. 

Don’t run before you can walk 

In our experience, Integrators taking the KNX Basic course as the starting point in their journey with KNX quickly get frustrated, as without a KNX project to work on they can’t earn money from it, or they begin to get skills fade and lose momentum.  

Having invested a lot of time and money into the training, Integrators get stuck, and without winning any projects they start to feel that maybe KNX isn’t for them after all. This is why we dedicated years (literally) pouring all of our knowledge and experience about working with KNX into our courses.
